Corporate Blogging Defined
What is corporate blogging? Where did it come from? Why is it in the news so much lately? And what the heck is a blogosphere? We hope to answer these questions and more with our guide to corporate blogs.
What’s a Blog?
A blog is a content-management system that published text onto the web. Most blogs are published in reverse chronological order, meaning the most recent blog post is at the top of the main page. The word “blog” is a shortened and more current form of the outdated “weblog” or “web log.” In the early days, blogs mostly took the form of online diaries. Today, blogs have evolved to many roles, many of them business-related.
What’s a Corporate Blog?
A corporate blog is simply a blog maintained by one or more people within a corporation. Corporate blogs can be broken down even further based on who is publishing the blog. Some companies have a variety of corporate blogs published by key individuals within the company. They may also have a primary blog serving as the “official” corporate blog.
And, of course, there are blogs maintained by the CEOs of various corporations, which leads to the next definition.
What’s a CEO Blog?
This is probably the easiest definition within the corporate blogging lexicon. A CEO blog is simply a blog published by the CEO of a company. Popular CEO blogs include those of Jonathan Schwartz from Sun Microsystems, Bob Lutz of General Motors, and Craig Newmark of Craig’s List.
